But with the way my stomach was feeling, maybe i am relieved...wouldn't have been to happy in a large MOSH PIT type crowd.
But I went to a friend's place instead...where a few of us blasted loud Killers music on decent speakers...sitting in a 12 x 12 room room in the yard with swimsuits and the hot tub...and had...well...
A Few Beers along with our own CONCERT!
I also had a strange little show of my own last night upstairs in bed...No No No...don't EVEN think like that...
It was all in the form of a great DREAM...no reality working...just a dream...after MIDNIGHT...and it was well worth jotting down.
(Maybe I will share it later today!)
"I know what you want
I wanna take you to a midnight show tonight
If you can keep a secret
I got a blanket in the back seat on my mind
And a little place that sits beneath the sky
She turned her face to speak
But no-one heard her cry
Drive faster, boy"

I'm going to show the fact that I'm really out of the loop. Question # 1: Who are the "Killers"? Question # 2: What kind of music do they perform? Question # 3: Do they have any "Hits" that I could identify?
Lately, whenever I do or say anything stupid, my wife gives me a sly look and spells this awful word: O - L - D! It's really not a question of being old and out of it, it's more of being just naturally "Dumb" and out of it! (Go ask Quicksand!) LOL!

Miles-
The Killers are a newer band...sorta punky, alternative...

I like to stay on the edge of music for several reasons...
1. I like it
2. I am an OLD punk rocker from the late 70's, early 80's
3. It makes me seem HIP in front of the students
4. It gets me out of the house!
I always thought that being in my 40's would have me standing...looking out of place in these venues...but you can't imagine how many of US are spending our hard earned money in clubs that charge $6 for a beer with a band!
I do plan to attend Hall and Oates at Summerfest this year! Now THAT DATES ME.

Thanx Mental Notes! I'm going to give the "Killers" a chance to "Slay" me. I'm a product of the sixties early seventies and then I sort of went into musical hibernation when we started to have children. Still enjoy Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Stones,I like U2,But lately, I've really turned into an avid jazz fan. Yesterday for example I was listening to Lady Day (Billie Holiday) sing "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" by Irving Berlin.I was touched by the lyrics and moved by the entire musical rendition of the Berlin classic. ( It was performed in 1937!) But I'll give the Killers a try!!! - Miles

Something liberating happens when you turn 50 Mn, you care less and less on seeming "Hip" and more and more concerned with what "Really" turns you on and quite frankly, that IS very hip. You'll find out soon enough..."Little Grasshopper"!

Miles,
The only "hipper" I can get is if I get a "replacement"!
and as for Billie Holiday...I can enjoy that as well. In my former position I had the luxury of being able to have the radio on during class as background music. Now remembering that most of these girls were living on the edge, returning from detention, prison, foster care, etc...I chose to play the local Jazz station...every day. At first they would complain and give me grief...but after a while they enjoyed it.
I had succeeded. I was HIP and they were HIP too! We were, as you put it, REALLY TURNED ON.
I do enjoy a variety of music and will try to fit some of that into my BLogs....Later

I've often thought that Rock is the very essence of the culture of youth. The Fire that keeps the "cauldren" of youth bubbling and frothing. I once told a young man that.."When your parents start to dig your music ..it's time to find something else to listen to" I don't remember seeing too many people over 30 at Woodstock..(I don't remember a lot from those days anyway..LOL!)When I was 19 I absolutely believed that the older generation "Didn't Know Jack"! and I'm afraid that looking at what's happening in the world today...I know I was right then. I don't have a lot of faith in the younger generation collectively. I was involved in a demonstration during the summer at the Natl. Republican Convention and noted it was about evenly divided between young and old.(The young should have been there in force, after all it is their world for the next 60 or 70 years.) I'm probably just an old "Fogey" MN but whattaya gonna do!!! Keep blogging MN! Your friend Miles!
