American Girl-Tom Petty

All I know for sure is that this
American Girl
Can Not Party Like she used to
Or wants to
For all that it's worth!!!
After a day that I had promised myself...would not run into the night
The BIG GIG
gave me a
BIG HANGOVER
And I payed for it today
Thought maybe that going to a darkened theater to catch a flick
Would help ease the pain of it all
...It was nice
But I had to force myself to stay awake
With no soft place to rest my head.
War of the Worlds was very interesting
Don't get me wrong
It's just that
I was in no shape to be out in public
(Actually, I was in no shape to be out in public yesterday after the obnoxious amount of beer that I drank!)
Oh well, Live and Learn...
Just guess I never learn
One band rolled into another
Talking to strangers
Bumping into old freinds from just about everywhere
The crowds were frantic
(picture displays just One of the 20 or so continuous blocks of festival areas)
Yet still there were grassy areas along the lake to catch a quiet breath)
I sorta just watched the day roll
As if it were a movie of it's own
Just an American Girl
At one of her favorite places to be in the summer
The WORLD'S LARGEST MUSIC FESTIVAL
Gonna hang with freinds in the yards tonight...
Salmon and white wine for dinner
Huge Bonfire
Hopefully RELAX
...But then again "T" and her family arrived home from "Up North" today
It may get interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Well, she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep
O yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl"
