Purchased a rug and pillow for the couch on the clearance rack, a few new kitchen garbage cans, and some Sponge BOB stickers for my school store tommorow.

Meandered over to the local Home Depot...now that is where the action is...no screaming toddlers here. Just guys with real dirt underneath their fingernails, flannel shirts and multiple "3 conversations per day" opportunities!
"Hey, seems like a true closet organizer dilemna here", I say with a smile. "Yeah, tell me about it", he grins and fidgets! I stalk the aisles for 50% off deals and more conversations...(Mental Note-Gosh am I wierd.) And then...

"Running into you like this without warning
Is like catching a sniff of tequila in the morning
But I'll try, I'll try to keep my food down
That's quite an after-taste that you've left now that you're not around

You can just pretend we're not in the same room
Well, alright, I'll just mosey to the bathroom
You flew by like a summer vacation
And you left me with TV-movies and a messy kitchen

I think I'll disappear now, slip out sideways
Just for awhile - but until then I'll stay in and sleep late, excuse me"
-Crash Test Dummies

Yep, just like that... a real CRASH

Bumping into HIM

a BLAST from the PAST

Enough said....
I never in my wildest dreams expected to see him in a hardware store! I thought maybe his hired help did the shopping. I didn't even think he owned a flannel shirt. Why isn't he watching over the staff at his upscale bistro? (It is close to lunch time.) I was his first. It didn't end pretty. Off to college in a far off place, and on to bigger and better things than a girl with a teaching degree. Little did he know...this girl with a teaching degree got over him. No, I'm not living on Lake Drive in his neighborhood, but he is shopping in mine! Ha!!!...Who's in the BARGAIN BASEMENT now baby????

Flew over to the tanning salon, greased up and

VW Karmann Ghia

So today I am off of my MOVIE kick
Awoke with visions of...hmmm...
Sports Cars
from the previous evening at the 2005 Car Show

If I could turn back time I would go back to the days in my life when I was a brand new teacher driving an older model 1970's Volkswagon Kharman Ghia as pictured in this Blog entry. It was exactly like this one except for three factors:

Robin's Egg Blue!!
A few spots of rust on the rocker panels
And a heater that did not work.

It was the best car I ever drove: cute, to the point, and Automatic Stick..only because I have never mastered a clutch...auto stick allows you to release your foot off the gas, change gears, and put the peddle back down. I was in heaven!

Times changed and as I began to collect payroll checks I was talked into getting something new, had a warranty, and wasn't ready to choke on the freeway. I still don't understand why I listen to others when it should be about ME! But if I had it to do all over again, I would take that car back in a flash. I would buy another right now if I could find one at a reasonable price, in reasonable shape.

But, back to the car show. I found that my favorite model-if I was frivilous and didn't care what I spent, had no concerns about putting two teens through college, and worked through my highly anticipated summers off would be the following:

1. Infiniti G35 Coupe-Pearl White @ $38,000
2. Audi TT-Jet Black @ about the same $$
3. BMW-Silver-Carrera @ $80,000

On the more reasonable list:
1. Acura RSX-Jet Black @ $22,500 Zoomie Award Winner- Best Performing Sport Coupe under $25,000

2. Scion's new tC Sedan-baby blue @ a mere $17,500 and Zoomer Car of the Year

3. Mitsubishi 2006 Eclipse-Silver @$25,000 with all of the trimmings (not out till this June)

So I guess I will just sit and wait to see if my professional contract is renewed for this next school year and drive my fun little Bug around until then...actually I would be more than happy to keep driving it for a few more years, but the teens say it's a total chick car and even though it is a Turbo that managed to give the student driver his first speeding ticket...it just doesn't make the grade!

I'll sit here for now and wait for my newest toys...new washer and dryer arriving today...yahooooo!!! (Big Deal)
Like I really care if I have a new fangled appliance...
I don't even do a whole heck of a lot of wash...but back again...it's the teenagers running this house and as long as they continue to wash their own clothes...I guess I will have to replace the broken tools to do so!

Big Light Bulb Idea here....

Drive the "Chick" car over to the laundromat and plug in some quarters!!!

And the train conductor says
"Take a break Driver 8, Driver 8 take a break
We can reach our destination, but we're still a ways away"

than Beer-tenders...
the Rico-Suave dudes on the moving circular concept car displays were fun to smile at as well...

might as well...
during dinner downtown afterwards,
I enjoy watching the crowds of friends
dance off to the IHL hockey game
and families that are happy
scurry across the street to the circus performance
....much more than attempting to open my mouth
in conversation...
knowing only that my thoughts and ideas
do not match those of my own family members.

It is as if I am from another planet...

of all PASSION....ya sorta gotta be if you are thinking romantic thoughts while watching Fisher King or Adam Sandler, for all that matters!

and I enter an Empty house,
open a Teen Vogue,

It's not the "horn" word

In times like this, one just has to pull out all of their old "ALBUMS" and have an absolutely flashback, fabulous...
Record Spin!

Take them out of the wooden crate, handle with care, and plop them onto the turntable. It takes a bit to figure out which ones you MUST listen to first, but once you "get into the groove" you have consumed 5-6 hours of a Friday night and are thinking that those days back in college were the best years of your life!

There is something about the crackling of the vinyl, the steady hand after several drinks that moves the arm back and forth across the album of black to hear that special song...just one more time, and the task it takes to keep turning it over and slipping it back into it's sleeve.

Try to get sidetracked by the album cover art. It has a much greater impact in it's original size than on a tiny cd. And, ahhhh.....the multiple uses of those double albums, the two record sets, that opened up in booklike fashion, to reveal inner secrets, of artistic expression...and, yeah, more!

I don't have to squint my eyes to actually read the lyrics. So I can sing along! (If I so choose?)

So in this day and age of doom and gloom and news that turns depressing...I am gonna have a few more Record Spins....

Thankful to have saved them...sometimes better than a photograph!!

I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere

Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
AND YOUR ARM FELT NICE WRAPPED ROUND MY SHOULDER
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

You got a fast car

Sinking into sweet uncertainty.

If you're listening.
Are you listening?
Sing it back.

A Decade Under the Influence-Taking Back Sunday

okay...

The "Never Never Land" only gives one half of their true potential...
On "Current Event Monday"
I collect the following items of interest...

HEADLINE
"U.S. Snares Patient's Drug From Canada"
RECAP (if I can read the handwriting)
"For three years this guy gets his cholesterol meds from Canada, but this month his meds never show up."
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
"I think it's "redikuloius" that they would do that. I think they should have give him a 90 day warning to find a new way to get them."

HEADLINE
"Bush Could Cut Farm Subsidies"
RECAP (none)
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
"I think that it should not be allowed because it is his fault we are in debt and he should think of all of us here in the US first"

HEADLINE
"Boogeyman Thrills Box Office"
RECAP "This article is about Boogeyman winning at the box office. It comes out with 19.5 million to start."
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
"The movie was decent although "The Grudge" sucked. The setting was good and so were the special FX"

And my absolute favorite...

HEADLINE
"Police Suspected in Man's Beating"
RECAP "Off duty cops were beating a man."
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE
"It was very unneccesary"

What do I do with this bunch of Hooligan's?

"Well I got a bad feeling about this (what is this for?)
I got a bad feeling about this..."

By the Way...

And I am in Desperate need of a "Creative" Current Event for class on Monday...

No...Not a Future Event...

But a Current one...

And today's trip to the Supermarket
Does Not Count...

Neither does this Superbowl!!!

Lost in the Supermarket-The Clash

Hey,
Who are the people that hook into the profession of compiling musical soundtracks for the grocery store? What type of classses do you take for that position? Is there a specific degree, or do you just fall into it because your Aunt Sally retired and they hear that you have her "ear" for music?

Today....while mindlessly wandering the aisles of my local Pick n Save, I find myself singing/humming/swaying along to certain songs in the food store jukebox! Acutally, the venue wasn't all that bad for a Sunday morning....but I became much more sidetracked than usual.

Ended up at home without half the things I needed, or wanted. Took another trip to the "Specialty" store and found such delicacies as Gouda cheese...fresh Guacamole...Orange "DREAM" cake...(just a single slice mind you!)...Kona coffee...a pretty little bottle of Shiraz....and finally, a bunch of my very favorite flowers...Gerber Daisies.
I chose those in the faintest color of pink and replaced the Basket O" Poinsetta that still sat on my kitchen table...with something that just screams...SPRING!

So technically....I was lost in TWO supermarkets. They didn't have the nerve to play any Clash over the speaker system...but the difference between Pick N Save and the second stop is a CLASH in itself!!!

WHY I LOVE DAISIES.......

Maude: I should like to change into a sunflower most of all. They're so tall and simple. What flower would you like to be?

Harold: I don't know. One of these, maybe. (points to a field of daisies)

Maude: Why do you say that?

Harold: Because they're all alike.

Maude: Oooh, but they're *not*. Look. See, some are smaller, some are fatter, some grow to the left, some to the right, some even have lost some petals. All *kinds* of observable differences. You see, Harold, I feel that much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are *this*,
[she points to a daisy]

Maude: yet allow themselves be treated as *that*
[she gestures to a field of daisies]

Eye

"All your life is such a shame
All your love is just a dream
Open up your eyes
You can see the flames of your wasted life
You should be ashamed

You don't want to waste your life
You don't want to waste your life...baby

I walk along these hillsides In the summer 'neath the sunshine
I am feathered by the moonlight
falling down on me...
Change, change, change"

Don't Try So Hard-Queen

The day of the BIG TEST

I don't understand how the youth of today
rambles through time
with no care or concern over
the topics that keep them functioning in
society...

They worry about pimples
upcoming dodgeball tournaments
and dances

If the soda machines in the hallway have been turned off for class yet,
blah...blah...blah

Well, so do I but...
at least I study for Main Events!

I guess no one totaled a grade of 83% or under
As they did remember that Alaska has an odd tax for fishing...along with ways other states differ...&...
The Governor has duties similar to the President...along with ways all states are similar

The area these young adults lack in is the development of a concise paragraph that discusses issues of American government that concern them.

They can't put their thoughts together. They can't take a stand...and if they do they have no definite facts/proof/spine to back them up!

Don't get me wrong...I can still shape them...develop their thought process...teach them to expand their pool of resources...Turn them into budding Einsteins, but in the end...
All they will say to me is...

"Don't Try So Hard....cuz I'm not gonna!"

And I'll still bring the donuts!

MEMO TO SELF:
List of things I TRY SO Hard On-
1. Ummmm...I can't do this right now
I will depress myself!

Don't Drink the Water-Dave Mathews Band

At $7 a pop
I decided to side-step the water
and go for the Gold..
Margherita, that is

On a late afternoon
that turns into early,
then later
evening

I join a former co-worker for dinner and drinks
laugh a little
laugh some more
...flirt with a waiter named "Brian"
who wears Stetson cologne from his mother
just received this last Christmas
...share some cheesecake for dessert
(with the co-worker, not Brian)
Balance out a bill
and drive home...
to Ballroom Blitz on CD

Okay....I did have some water as well...
...But the margheritas were well worth
the $$$

The day at school went well
I brought donuts to keep Never Never Land
...happy

One of my Political Gurus ate FOUR in a row...

Let's see if he can get four in a row
correct
on his Unit test tomorrow!

Sent an Urchlin at the Middle School to the office
later in the day...had no materials
poked a peer with a pencil
refused to put bag o' chips
on my desk!

See...when all is well in Never Never Land
(High School morning)
All runs a muck with the Urchlins (Middle School afternoon)

Maybe they shouldn't
...Drink the Water

Humor of the Situation-Bare Naked Ladies

I feel like dancin'
Originally uploaded by ART NAHPRO.

It all makes sense...

One child breaks up...
One child finds new love...

One class is totally unruly...
One class is unbelievably behaved...

I...
enjoy the good company...
of good friends!...
And my kid shows up at the same restaurant!

"Come on now, now
Come on now, now
Enjoy the humour of the situation"-BNL
