Speak of the Devil-Chris Isaak

Hey...
Flickr is DOWN...
and I soooo needed an inspirational pic for my Blog tonight.

Flickr...the DEVIL!!!

So anyway...
Faculty Won the big game...by many points
and the week culminated with a great halftime show
not one of us fell down
we kept to the beat
and got the crowd laughing

but as I patrolled the hallways at the end of the day

I received COMPLIMENTS

my son even got IM's from friends at the school that said
things such as...
well...I should not repeat...
but "It was ALL good"!

and I smile :)

Life is GOOD

and there are donuts in the lounge!!!

"Speak of the devil.
The devil appears.
Been waiting for some one.
Lonely for years.
But I'm alright now
Yeah I'm alright now.
..it's alright.
..it's alright. "

...I had a really funny converstation with someone as simple, standing right in front of me... as a teller...

After I couldn't remember the account number and related the multiple transfers as a form of THERAPY

he laughs...
and tells me something that a good friend told me a bit back...
therapy is not worth the time or the $$$$...
they just reiterate your comments with a cup of crappy coffee...

I did the whole therapy thing back as a senior in high school. A bad relationship and a diary find made my parents believe that someone out there was worth my time. I needed to talk to someone that was paid big bucks. And after 3 sessions I stopped driving across town to lie.

Again last summer I did a three session thing... again...I guess the magic number is Three...conversations!

(per day)

It was a parent release thing this last time, and I again did not find it worth my time. I work with kids and know much more about relationships, behavior modification, and curling the word.

So anyway..the TELLER
claims that therapy didn't work for him as well...
and we both agree that it would work a lot better if WINE were included...

Don't we all open up much better after a few cocktails? I can talk to a bartender much better on a stool than a therapist on a couch.

And we both decide that the money that clamps itself into my wallet with reciept in tow, is much better spent at the upscale bistro down the block, than anywhere else we can imagine. (It is after 5)

Oh yeah...other two conversations today...bartender...and Yoga instructor at Health Fair this morning at work. "HOW DO YOU DO THAT?"

Just wondering here... how much can I really handle to view in Times Roman Text!

A turbulant teen can rip out your heart and spit it back in your face...
emotional drama at it's best...

Remember being a teen?
yeah...
But I don't remember swearing at my mom over a minimal misunderstanding, a disagreement, a simple pause in thought.
He is good-I think I said before 3.6 GPA, yet an emotional rollercoaster taking me for the ride of my life. A basket case in the Weaving! (The younger one here is my rock...Chris Rock of humor...and what gets me through...hmmmm will he turn on me too?)

The only time I ever "totally" blew up at my parents was when they uncovered my diary...a Junior in high school...just like him....it was a journal that's preface stated,
"Due to the curriculum of Creative Writing 101, I take this journey to new lengths that even I could not imagine myself being a part of."

Of course it was not true at all... it was my life...and once found...they were PISSED. Even more pissed than when I hit the fire hydrant after my first week of driving.

I came home from school to find it out on my bed, and even after the explaination and cover up of a challenge writing assignment...I immediatly took it, undertow...down to the creek, after the grounding and beating was done...and burned it. As if a sacred ritual...I saw my teenage life go up in smoke...as I smoked...and cried.

I would give anything to have it back. To read at moments like this. Was I just as emotional? Was I as much of a pain to them? So confusing?

Guess I'd have to uncover thier journal to find the answer.

In the new age of technology...I wish I had a laptop, a Blog, and a glass of wine that need not be hidden.

Manic...Yes I am...
Monday...Yes it is...

Damn...
and I was doing soooooo good!!!!!!!!

Say It Isn't So-Hall and Oates

I can not distinguish
between the smoke
that rises from my eyes
as I sit on the stool at my kitchen
island
(yep, I've resolved back to smoking in the house)
vs the steam
that rises from my dishwasher
across the room

And I listen...
to Flashback Friday
on the radio...

A DAZE
of Southern Comfort
with a mixture of Hall and Oates-

had a bit too much
of that
or the High School basketball on TV
and sometimes I just

Say It Isn't SO...and feel CLUELESS

So with this Flashback Friday music each week
I flashback to my own High School days

It's hard not to...
when one walks throug High School hallways each day...
seeing the young,
gathering at lockers,
rushing to classes,
holding hands,
laughing,
dancing,
wearing funky t-shirts...

Remembering when...
...and ready to give anything for just ONE week back to...
a party here,
a prom there,
a pep rally,
a run from the law,
a great teacher,
a crush...

I am not Clueless in any way...
...but Always an Inquisitve Idiot...
"Say It Isn't So"

"We like to be the strangers at the party, two rebels in a shell.

You like to move with the best of them
You know we move so well."

On the night of St. Patrick's ... I skip out of the monthly "Ladies Night Out" only because I have made my own selfish plans...

Plans to make a "corny" Irish dinner...
(yes the teens will bitch, but is it always all about them anyway?)

Plans to listen to The Cranberries, The Corrs, and that silly CD I bought after seeing the production of "Lord of the Dance"

Plans to wear green all day into night, which is not my favorite color in the least...my first car was a pea green 1970 Camaro with white vinyl top and green vinyl seats. I opened up the left side quarter panel on a fire hydrant, taking a tight turn the first week I had it. My dad was not too happy, but he fixed it outside in the alley that month. I loved the car...really wanted a 1967, but still enjoyed the ride...even though it's color was not my favorite. (Did I say that already?) HA

Plans to pay the bills...nothing Irish about that.

And Plans to make several Black and Tans...which ALWAYS turn out just BROWN...even though I bought the special spoon that you are supposed to use that keeps the Harp and Guiness separate.

I am not even Irish...just parts of French, English, and German.

I think I'm gonna toss my thoughts to the wind and head up to the corner bar, and ask my friendly "tender" to make that cute little shamrock in foam as he pours me some solace!

Ridiculous....I know...but life isn't always about Common Sense.

Oh yeah...today at work I was asked..."Hey, since it is St. Patrick's Day and all, can we just skip 4th and 5th hour and go to the room to watch Leprechan 3 or something....in the spirit of it all and such?"

RIDICULOUS!

Hey...
So after one day of after school basketball practice of Faculty...getting ready for the big Faculty VS Student game next week...
...I QUIT

I realize that I am not right for the sport...
I am a smoker
though I don't care to admit it...
And after a few runs down the court...

I can't do IT

So I spend my time this evening burning a CD of Jock Jams, Ramones, Marky Mark, and Village People for the week of March Madness...where we play music in the hallway during change of classes and dedicate the titles to the "ready to lose" Student Team...

I also try to figure out what tune I will pick for the HALFTIME show...

I have now signed up to choreograph the STAFF Pom Pon routine. When asking the girls on the "real" team I polled if we should do something "Toatally cool and hip" or an "Embarassing moment of total FOOLDOM". The vote went for the latter and I am trying to find the PERFECT SONG.

No, we will not look like those in the picture displayed...but we will try our best!

I have bitten more than the dust...more like "more than i can chew". Grades due in next week and some extra $$$ in the making for subbing some first hour classes to help out some co-workers...big tests to print out, as well as tests of MY OWN!

Gosh,
I must say that the evening with Interpol did not dissappoint!!
Got there around 6:30...sat at the bar...realized that
I was not the oldest or oldest looking there in the
least!! Many people there between 30-45 as well as those
there to chaperone/drive their kids.

Talked to MANY people...exceeded my 3 person
conversation goal by far!
The first band was not that hot (Q and not U) and did not start
until about 8 or so...which knocked Interpol back to a
9:30 start time...my usual bed time on a Sunday
evening. Had seats upstairs in the balcony
overlooking the mOsh pit...only because I did not want
to stand in the crowd of the Young!!! Turned out be be
a fabulous location. Was able to see the side view of
the band...right on top of them. Also had a GREAT
view of the crowd as well...which was quite
interesting.

Never sat down...swayed and bounced to the music for
the entire hour and 45 minutes!!! Paul and Daniel are great fun to watch...remnant visions of a bit of Elvis Costello going on!
I must say that
between the conversations with many that included the bartender, the usher, the interesting girl sitting next to H in the slinky black Elvira outfit that had seen the band in three other cities in one week and the other ADULTS that I met...the music, the
energy, and the $6 Miller Lite tappers (OMG!!), this
evening was the best I have had in a while. Not a let
down as so many times become my memory!

Very Sleepy today, however. Just dragging at
work...and hungry...for another night like this! The
Killers are scheduled there next month I believe...but
I am just gonna adjust my soundtrack to prepare for
the Psychedelic Furs...unfortunatley...that too is on
a Sunday evening. Sorta makes for a LONG work week!...But ahhhhh..it's all about the Pleasure!

Now remember....I usually set my expectations WAY too high for events such as this...concerts...bar bands...class reunions...casual nights out...

You get the picture...

So, I have no idea what the night will bring...but baby...Tonight It's You...not "you" like a person "you".... just the band...and I hope I wake up for work in the morning!!!

Jungleland-Bruce Springsteen

Flickr is down for the evening, so there is no pic attached to my post at this time
But had to Blog about the day and just couldn't wait...

In the Alternative English class that I have on Mondays, we share our weekend experiences and it is always a mixed bag. Besides the kid who sits in a back corner of the room, blasting farts at high volume...no sooner leaving his body of full functioning teenage angst...the scent consumes the room and others listen on. He has no shame...and could care less about what image he leaves to be seen...and smelt, for that matter.

Others share the events of their weekend, from losing a job and consuming mass quantities to forget the pain, to another who consumes mass quantities and causes others pain. On to those who were busted, and those parents who missed the opportunity. Over to others who participated in sports tournaments, saw me at sports tournaments, biked, hiked, and just hung in the house playing endless video games. And last but not least, those who found new love, broke up with old love or got dumped... and kids that were beat up, or did the beating themselves.

And I am so glad to be able to be there....Cuz it's not always ALL about what I say, but also so much about how I listen!

It's a Jungle out there....

Snowman Ornament
Originally uploaded by DawnM.

Today was a totally awesome day into night
I sit on my porch with a glass of wine
and remember the last time I was probably out here

It was October and I sat next to a scarecrow
sipping and smoking
and thinking of the fall
and winter to come

And now I sit in the same spot
The temperature is approximatly the same
around 60 degrees
yet I listen to snow melting...
dripping into a nearby sewer
...and anticipate spring
into SUMMER

I got a whole bunch of stuff done today
started with a hot bath
and on to the bookstore

Sat with a friend for coffee
and truly enjoyed the company
...came home
opened some windows in the kitchen

the only downer of the day was the teen coming home from a morning of t-shirt snowboarding
a bit early...
only because his Burton board got trashed
on a rail
$400 of his own hard earned money
down the drain...like the melting snow. :(

Got online and ordered some tickets to the much looked forward to Psychedelic Furs concert coming to town. Planning to go with friends that I had over last night. Gonna have some fun at that one!!

Hopped in the car on to a trip to a local tech store
to get a new digital camera
(Maybe now I can use it with my iBook
and compose a few of these Blogs with some of my very own pics)

Walked for an hour and a half with my neighbor...
the parkway was crowded with bikes, walkers, rollerbladers, dogs...and puddles, but it was so much fun to be out and about...just yaking and walking and drinking bottled water (lots of it)!!!

Did a bit of grocery shopping at about 5pm...the day was just too full to get there any sooner...and I procrastinated as long as I could. Bumped into several friends and more neighbors there...talked to the Wine Guy as well.
Was inspired to cook by my Bookstore Buddy and made some great chicken breasts on the grill with angel hair pasta/red peppers/asparagus on the side. Garlic and Olive Oil drenched!

Now I sit composing the events of my day...
But truly a Great One

Hope the kids at school tommorow are happy. I know that I am...so happy to see the snow melt and get on with a Spring in my step!

And to you dear winter...

I just wanna tell you that I had enough.

I truly dislike watching a movie

It amplifies so much

And I can't escape

Also signed myself up for the Faculty/Staff Basketball game that starts with a very long spirit week of entertainment, ends with a pep rally and an obnoxious game of which I have been told has a record of the Faculty winning 45 of 45 games from the past.

So tonight I crack open ( or cork open) a bottle of red and anticipate a Fun Friday...it is Backwards/Inside out day tomorrow and I am trying to think of something clever but not to wierd. Hmmmm....

You might say it was a true Ball Room Blitz...as the home team stayed ahead the enitre game. Not that I was watching...way too busy socializing and drinking and stepping out of the suite to find a smoking area in the rest of the center.

I enjoyed talking to the waiters and ticket inspectors as well, getting to know them well enough by name and eliminating the need to flash my stub each time I re-entered the "forbidden zone".

All in all it was a fun evening...much better being stuck in there with friends than the usual corporate big wigs that one must partake in small talk with and be sure that you don't drink yourself silly!

"Are you ready, Steve?
Aha.
Andy?
Yeah!
Mick?
OK.
Alright, fellas,
let's go! "

Candy-Iggy Pop

After The Hardware Store...

He emails me
Like the sweetness that I have waited for
and had before,
Such a long while back...

He thought that I had cheated
but never had
and in a college bar
he deals me cards
that I am not prepared to turn over
and the years go on...
with little passes in the darkness
we glance at eachother
and smile

But now a spark
in MY dark
is ignited!!!

CANDY

"It's a rainy afternoon
In 1990
The big city geez it's been 20 years-
Candy-you were so fine

Beautiful beautiful
Girl from the north
You burned my heart
With a flickering torch
I had a dream that no one else could see
You gave me love for free

Candy, candy , candy I can't let you go
All my life you're haunting me
I loved you so

Candy, candy , candy I can't let you go
Life is crazy
Candy baby

Yeah, well it hurt me real bad when you left
I'm glad you got out
But I miss you
I've had a hole in my heart
For so long
I've learned to fake it and
Just smile along

Down on the street
Those men are all the same
I need a love
Not games
Not games"

At least I have iTunes, two bottles of Shiraz, and a full pac of ciggarettes.

Life does make it's own ammends!

"It's in the way that she poses
It's in the things that she puts in my hair
Her stories are boring and stuff
She's always calling my bluff
She put's the weights into my little heart
And she gets in my room and she takes it apart"
